Oil pressure and engine temperature

← Understand your car and road life
Oil pressure and engine temperature
  1. Engine oil lubricates moving parts; coolant carries heat toward the radiator. They are different circuits with different fluids and warning symbols.
  2. A low-oil-pressure warning while the engine runs requires a safe stop and engine shutdown as instructed by the handbook. It is not merely a reminder to book routine servicing.
  3. Never open a hot coolant cap: pressurised fluid can burn you. Let the system cool, keep clear of fans and belts, and obtain assistance rather than improvising a repair.

Complete every check correctly to master this lesson. Each applied question explains the consequence of your choice.

1 · The oil-pressure warning stays on while driving. The engine still sounds normal. What should guide your action?
2 · The coolant system is hot. What is the safe approach to its cap?
3 · Do oil and coolant perform the same task in the same circuit?
