ABS, stability control and automatic braking

ABS, stability control and automatic braking
  1. ABS helps prevent wheel lock under braking; stability control compares intended motion with actual motion and can intervene. Neither creates grip beyond what tyres and road can provide.
  2. Automatic emergency braking is a backup, not permission to follow closely. Detection and intervention depend on the system, visibility, sensors and situation. Continue observing and braking yourself when necessary.
  3. A warning that assistance is unavailable changes what you can rely on. Read the exact message, adapt and follow the handbook; a brake-system fault may require stopping rather than treating it as a dirty-sensor notice.
