The 12-volt battery and starting faults
  1. The low-voltage battery supplies control systems and, in many combustion cars, the starter. An electric car also needs low-voltage power even with energy in its traction battery.
  2. Clicks, dim lamps or no start can have several causes. Repeated long starting attempts can drain the battery further; check the handbook and arrange diagnosis instead of assuming one failed part.
  3. Jump-start terminals and procedures differ by vehicle. Use the manufacturer’s method or assistance; never treat an EV traction battery or orange high-voltage cables as jump-start connections.

Complete every check correctly to master this lesson. Each applied question explains the consequence of your choice.

1 · An electric car has traction charge but will not wake up. Can a low-voltage fault still be relevant?
2 · Where should jump-start connections be identified?
3 · Does a clicking sound prove that the battery alone is faulty?
