Give way to oncoming traffic at the narrow section

Purpose and student action

Establish who must wait. Priority never permits creating a collision; check approaching road users.

Read · decide · act

  1. Read the exact sign: give way, STOP, priority road or narrow-passage priority are different.
  2. Scan both sides, pedestrians, cycles and rail vehicles before entering.
  3. Enter only when you can clear the junction; priority is not permission to force a collision.

Why this matters

At a narrow passage, B19 requires giving way to oncoming drivers; B21 indicates priority over them. Even with priority, wait if the passage cannot be cleared safely.

B19. Passage étroit Obligation de céder le passage aux conducteurs venant en sens opposé.
